  1. We learned which browsers are safe to go on; we were given sample sites that are useful for teachers; it was stated that we can always start out small and then expand through frequent use and application of computers; Hopefully, IF we are getting laptops (since I don't have a reliable one at home), I hope to apply what I have learned from this insightful experience.

  2. I learned that I shouldn't stick to only one search engine. There are soooo many out there. I love that you provided other search engines that I could use.

  3. Thank you Grace and Robert! It was a definitely a wonderful experience to be able to reinforce what I already know about the different modules, AND learn the many new tools to help me become a better educator. I can then provide my students these tools/knowledge to become "techno savvy"-if they are not already! MASE faculty & staff---tune in (real soon) to our newest school's web site!!!

  4. Today's class has opened up a door to the vast websites out there that are specifically catered to educators. I appreciate how Grace and Robert were able to provide practical applications on how they utilize it in their classrooms.

Wolfram Alpha is fantastic for the kids to get data when doing a simple research paper. It also helps for them to review steps of a particular math skill.

Google Goggles would be fun for the kids to take pictures of various insects at school or their backyard and discover its scientific and layman name. Then they could also do a brief write up on it after researching it on the web.

Overall I am so ecstatic about taking this class. It would be ideal to share ideas on how we implemented what we learned in this class at a later date.

  5. This class is very enriching. It would be great if these sessions can be offered every 6 months so that we can update ourselves on more new applications.

Grace and Tom were so helpful, and when I have question in the future I know where to find them both emails or blog.
    Thank you

  30. Hello! I just wanted to let you know that I talked to several science teachers about setting up a communication system so we can continue discussions started during our meetings. This year we had problems with time constraints so some of our discussions were left hanging. Edmodo may be the way to go. Thanks for all the help and information.

Last day, but ended well! Worked on evaluating resources when researching, useful to teachers, students and parents. I have to say that the success of our 5-8pm class is greatly due to our instructor. Prof. Baird spent a great deal on putting things into perspective. I often found my partner and I commenting on how her explanations made sense. Thank you for all the knowledge you provided in this gateway, Pauline. Take care!

Boy this week went by too quickly. It was nice to learn about navigating browsers. the ctrl+shirt+T is great!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Great to think about because we automatically go to Google for all of our searches. Forgot about all the other ones we used to use. Wish I could learn more about navigating smarter and more efficiently.

  39. One of the most technologically advanced jet in the U.S. inventory requires such heightened awareness that the human brain cannot absorb all that is occurring simultaneously in real time. Enter computer systems that actually fly and operate cockpit instrumentation without requiring pilot intervention. Today's lesson is an example. Information overload is such that I must find a way to organize and access information without going through the process. Perhaps Gates and his microsoft crew will come up with technology where all you have to do is look at a certain part of the screen, and the computer automatically knows by the size of the blinking eye what topic to bring up. Science fiction perhaps, but the reality of the explosion of knowledge and access is stranger than fiction.
